Staff Updates
We are excited to welcome Maggie McClary as our new Music and Arts Coordinator this semester!
Maggie has lived in the Shenandoah valley for most of her 21 years of life. She is a graduate of Broadway High School, and this spring she will graduate from Eastern Mennonite University, where she is studying Music and Peacebuilding. Some of her fondest memories are touring through Europe with the EMU Chamber Singers, one of EMU’s choirs. Maggie now lives in Harrisonburg with her husband Sean and about 14 houseplants. She loves spending her summers working at Kenbrook Bible Camp with Sean where she has served as a counselor, maintenance assistant, and service director. She also spent a semester in Perú where she studied Spanish and Peruvian culture and history. Maggie loves mountains, reading fantasy books, baking bread, playing guitar, and farmer’s markets. She is so grateful to spend this time with you all as your Music and Arts Coordinator!
By now, most have probably heard the news that Amanda Miller Garber was called in January to a new position as the Director of Missional Engagement for the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is continuing to serve RISE this spring on a half-time basis as we transition to new leadership. Her last day as our Pastor will be Sunday, April 28, so mark your calendars now and plan to join us for a special celebration of Amanda’s ministry with RISE!
(If you missed Amanda’s earlier message about her transition, you can read it HERE.)
With the changes and transitions over the last few months, our other staff have also had their roles modified to keep things rolling as smoothly as possible. Alexis Owens is now working full time with RISE, and Chris Zepp has picked up additional responsibilities related to worship planning and coordination. We will continue to provide updates as we lean into the transitional months months ahead!
If you are fairly new to the community and would like to connect more deeply with RISE, you can begin by completing this short form to let us know about you, your interest, and your gifts:

RISE NEEDS YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Your generosity makes everything we do possible!!
One of our core values is, "God gives to us, so we give back." We're called to give as a joy-filled response to what we've been given. Your financial gifts make a tremendous difference in the lives of God's beloved in Harrisonburg and beyond. Whether it's helping to make sure children in our community have enough to eat, helping to respond to the mental health crisis in our community, or providing much needed backing for the operating costs of our spaces and staff — your gift is a part of God's dream and we are grateful for everyone who partners with us on this journey!
